Cher, like many celebrities in Hollywood, was a multi-talented star who was also quite passionate about acting. She first tried acting in Broadway in the ’80s, then was given a break on the big screen in the movie Silkwood. She got an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress for the film, quite impressive for someone who didn’t have a lot of acting experience. No doubt working with Hollywood big shots such as Meryl Streep gave her quick access to stardom. Later in her acting career, she won the Best Actress in the Oscars for the movie Moonstruck.
