Which Of Your Favorite Reality Shows Are Fake? Find Out Now

Published on 08/06/2021

It’s not a surprise that some reality TV shows are, in a way, fake and scripted. Who wouldn’t do this to get more views and boost ratings, right? Yes, it is called a reality show but don’t let this fool you into thinking everything about it is genuine. There are even some who are a hundred percent fake since episode 1!

South Beach Tow

No one can deny that the amazing hijinks from South Beach Tow are genuine. They aren’t, especially Bernice, our favorite person on the show. Have you seen the episode where she only used her hands to survive a fall and then caught a violator right after that? Who would believe that? However, it’s undeniable how cool it is.

Duck Dynasty

Have you heard about the Robertson family from Louisiana? The show focuses on how the family manages their duck-hunting business. The cast consists of their relatives either by blood or through marriage. Their family relations and marriage are all through but producers decided to add ‘dramatic’ effects to keep people interested. On top of that, the media team also adds ‘bleep’ sounds in the edit when they are not even cursing.

Undercover Boss

People who have worked with terrible coworkers would love seeing somebody getting punished. They would love to see what happens after bosses and corporate leaders find out what’s happening when they’re not around. Well, this is exactly what happens in the show! After all, having your boss disguise as a common employee is a great way to evaluate the current business processes. But honestly, it’s all scripted. What happens in real life is that bosses never follow through with the promises they made on air. How terrible is that!

Hardcore Pawn

Who wouldn’t have fun watching the Gold family as they run their pawnshop business in 8 Mile, Detroit? Especially when weird people are dropping by their store daily? Do you think their fights are outrageous? Well, that’s because they are. Most drama in this show doesn’t even happen in a real pawnshop. And several people who have gone on the show can attest that they are all staged. After all, it’s hard to believe that Les, Seth, and Ashley would argue with a customer every day!

Project Runway

Just to be clear, the popularity of a show doesn’t equal its authenticity. Many contestants who have been on this show like Daniel Esquivel and Jack Mackenroth have said that the judges aren’t judging based on fair criteria. One specific contestant even claimed that producers have staged the show in a way that would sensationalize the contests so it would go viral.

Cake Boss

Business owner Buddy Valastro proved that he can be a phenomenal hit in a short period.  This cooking show is made of teams who bake the most intricate and gorgeous cakes we have ever seen. And even though every cake looks delicious, too much drama on the show just proves that things were not as they seemed. You see, Valastro only comes to his shop when they’re taping. On top of that, producers stage several weddings and events they cater to.

Ghost Hunters

For years, this show has shared its moments under the spotlight. Casts and the crew have enjoyed the popularity for a long time which is why they have more spinoffs. But even though this is the case, many people accuse them of being fakes. Former case manager Donna Lacroix can affirm that fans are correct.

The Jerry Springer Show

What’s so surprising about this? This is one of the most bizarre TV shows we have ever seen in history. It’s pretty obvious and you don’t need rocket science to come up with that conclusion. Everyone realized that this show isn’t as real as it seems to be. Honestly, we don’t think that the story and guests aren’t even real.

Fixer Upper

Homeowners featured on the show have already purchased the house, even before the film started! This means that the choice of houses at the beginning of each episode is all staged. All the furniture and decorations picked and designed by Joanna are also not part of the budget, so they don’t keep these things unless they want to pay for them. The entire house is also not renovated. Chip has never seen to work on the house unless it’s taping day.

Keeping Up With The Kardashians

How can you be alive in 2021 and not have heard this show? It was first aired in 2007, as cameras followed the Kardashian and Jenner family. For years, they have all garnered fans who watched their daily activities as they reach their milestones in life. Knowing they are always in the limelight, they sometimes have to reshoot a scene to make it more interesting. Divorce documents of Kim Kardashian, Kris Humphries, and Russell Jay claimed that several scenes involving Humphries have been staged. Turns out, the show relies heavily on editors to add more drama.

Storage Wars

David Hester let the whole world in on the show’s secret when he was fired from the program. It turns out, the reality show is scripted! The same thing happens in every interview. According to him, producers set up the storage locker before shooting. They are planting interesting items in there. Also, the auctions are staged.

Jersey Shore

In 2009, the world first met the cast of the program. While the actors are real-life friends, the program does not depict the reality of their lives. Many of the events on the program, according to extras and locals, were pre-planned. A lawyer who resided across the street claimed to have seen them doing the walkabouts. Not only that but it is also said that the sequences are reshot from different perspectives. They have essentially rehearsed all of the facial expressions and conversations that we see and hear.

Say Yes To The Dress

The bridal reality show follows brides-to-be as they shop for their ideal wedding gown at the Kleinfeld store in New York. However, the reality is that these ladies were pre-selected by the producers. They urge the women to repeat or emphasize their remarks to add drama to the situation. Furthermore, the store is considerably smaller than the program would have you believe. Many people who go to the shop to check it out are surprised to learn that this is the case.

Long Island Medium

Theresa Caputo, a medium, claims to be able to link customers with their deceased loved ones. While the show’s concept is undeniably intriguing, we can understand why some people were skeptical from the outset. She has been embroiled in a scandal since she reportedly knows information about the show’s viewers and customers. Background checks, surveys, and social media let producers get to know these individuals. They then inform Caputo of what they have discovered.

Cupcake Wars

The program begins with four competitors from various bakeries throughout the United States. They participate in three cupcake baking rounds in the hopes of winning a chance to appear in an event featuring a thousand cupcakes. Almost often, the first round includes a challenge involving the usage of unusual cupcake components. However, according to reports, they are already aware of the components before they are disclosed on the program.

Naked And Afraid

Participants in the program are transported to exotic locations, stripped nude, and recorded as they try to live on their own. Some participants have claimed that not everything on the program is as it seems. For one thing, it is highly reliant on the editors. Aside from that, the production team provides participants with luxuries that are not commonly accessible. Supplements, prescription medicine, and tampons are examples of such products. Oh well, it was difficult to accept the concept from the start.

Basketball Wives

The show’s stars are ladies who are married to some of the NBA’s greatest players. However, it turns out that they are not all pleased with how things are being handled. Matt Barnes, a former cast member, has spoken out about how manufactured and planned everything on the program is. Tanya Young supported up this allegation. She said that the filmmakers planned to set the women against one another for the drama.

The Hills

This program seems to have done everything on the reality TV show list. On the program, teen angst, backstabbing, and lovers’ quarrels were frequent. It seems to be highly scripted. Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag once had to film the same scene 15 times, according to Spencer Pratt. This is when she believed she was “pregnant,” to which he responded angrily. The producers also confessed to casting a large number of individuals for the program. This includes Lauren’s coworker’s closest buddy.

Last Comic Standing

This program has been looking for undiscovered talent while it was still on the air. It gave these people financial awards or publicity only for participating. In reality, the producers had a greater impact on the vote than the competitors and judges. Everyone was enraged when the winner was announced. Aside from that, the program employs many edits to make excellent performances seem worse than they were.

The Apprentice

People credit this reality TV program for bringing the present President to public attention. The plot revolves on a group of businesspeople and celebrities who are interviewing for a job at a firm run by Donald Trump. The producers, like the other programs on the list, wrote a screenplay for the firing portions. Furthermore, the competitors were told that they would be “fired” before the scene taking place. Worst of all, in our view, the winner received nothing more than bragging rights.

Love Island

What happens when you combine The Bachelor with Survivor? This program is the answer to that question. If you’ve never heard of it, the idea is that singles spend the summer on a tropical island with one another. They are then persuaded to pair up and hook up by the promise of money, triumph, and romance at the end of it all. According to Reddit, everything in the program is staged, from the personal moments to the fights. On television, only the most “realistic” takes are broadcast.

Breaking Amish

Allow us to reveal the truth about this intriguing television program. According to Jezebel, the show’s performers departed the community a long time ago, based on official records. This contradicts the statements of the program. After all, they were said to be venturing into the outer world for the “first time.”

Britain’s Got Talent

The British version of the famous American talent show offers a wide range of participants displaying their abilities. It includes dancers, acrobats, magicians, and anything else you can think of. A dog even blew the spectators away at one point. The “Jules and Matisse” dog performance was named the winner in 2005. The findings had been tampered with. Because the actual dog was too frightened to do such intense action, the filmmakers sent in a dog that resembled Matisse.

Restaurant Stakeout

Willie Degel, a restaurateur, installed cameras at a failing restaurant. This was done to determine what was wrong. Employees who were not functioning correctly were intended to be caught by the system. Following that, he would confront them and perhaps even fire them in the most spectacular way imaginable. For the record, this is nearly entirely a hoax. In the first season, the restaurant’s owner said that the Food Network contacted them and conducted a screen test on the workers before the shooting began. Aside from that, consumers were instructed to be as annoying as possible.

Dance Moms

Were you ever under the notion that the fighting in Dance Moms was excessive? If that’s the case, we admire your foresight. You’re right! Maddie Ziegler told USA Today in 2015 that dramatic situations are sometimes put up and manufactured. “It’s difficult to make a reality program when there’s so much weeping and drama,” she said. The creators designed it so that we would all scream at each other… The mothers have a phony quarrel now and again. They simply start chatting and laughing about it after that.”

Hell’s Kitchen

We doubt that this program would be the same without Gordon Ramsay’s foul-mouthed hosting. When it comes to reality television programs, this has to be one of the most entertaining. However, keep in mind that the program has a script. Customers who consume the meals are paid extras.

Toddlers And Tiaras

Do you cringe a bit when you watch even a few minutes of the show? We don’t understand it, yet some people are big fans. Anyway, Ranker has said that many of the events on the program are manufactured. Stars, for example, are instructed to reword their lines and generate drama on the program. Of course, all of this is done to make things more fascinating.

Toddlers And Tiaras

Survivor

This show’s concept seems like the real-life version of The Hunger Games. The competitors are divided into groups, abandoned in the woods, and must complete different tasks. It’s unfortunate to learn that the majority of the show’s challenges and contests are made up. Producers have confessed to using body doubles in several of these situations. Aside from that, participants are required to recreate other scenarios. A previous contestant on the program alleged that her eviction was also manipulated.

American Idol

American Idol made its television debut in 2001 and quickly became a success. The process begins with singing auditions in various areas of the nation until the judges identify someone worthy of the title. The overwhelming majority of aspirants do not stand a chance, but not for the reasons you believe. Even before the auditions begin, scouts are reported to have been sent to look for outstanding vocalists.

Catfish

Max and Nev present the popular MTV program. They attempt to figure out “who is actually behind these profiles.” We realize it’s an odd concept, but it’s intriguing since so many people catfish these days. Even yet, the program isn’t quite as honest as it promises to be. The producers are supposed to do everything backward! Catfishers, it seems, are the ones who apply to be on it.

The Voice

According to one prospective contestant, the talent show is rigged. Adam Wiener, a rock musician, went to Facebook to discuss how the program courted him. He ultimately declined the offer since it was pre-cast. Furthermore, the producers chose the songs and music styles that the contestants would perform. Fans were startled to hear this and started to doubt The Voice’s authenticity.

Property Brothers

We’re also heartbroken to learn about this one. A pair of Canadian brothers work together to help couples find the home of their dreams. Unfortunately, some aspects of the show are entirely fabricated. To begin with, Jonathan and Drew do not remodel the whole house, instead focusing on a few areas chosen by the couple. Not only that but some sequences are reshot to add as much ‘drama’ as possible for the audience’s enjoyment. Last but not least, the couples decide to embark on a renovation project because the brothers frequently show them homes that are out of their price range.

Pawn Stars

Who’d have guessed that this popular History Channel program is almost entirely scripted? While the Harrisons still own the shop, it has now become more of a tourist attraction than anything else. Because of Nevada’s privacy regulations, the stars no longer work normal hours there. Aside from that, the cast members have already agreed on a price with the vendors before the program is filmed.

Pawn Stars

The Real Housewives

To be honest, the notion that it is scripted isn’t anything new. However, it was only verified when Theresa Guidice confessed under oath and disclosed the truth. The meetings between the women had already been arranged in advance by the producers. Aside from that, the same holds for the large conflicts that occur among the members of the organization. Yikes.

The Real Housewives

The Bachelor/The Bachelorette

We can’t dispute that watching both of these programs is a lot of fun. Unfortunately, it is much less natural than the makers would have you believe. According to rumors, the actors have given the lines ahead of time. Aside from that, they manipulate the theatrical competitors into putting themselves in perilous circumstances for drama. There will also be a rose ceremony. The cast is so meticulously selected that they already know who will go to the finals!

The Biggest Loser

Even while fans are eager to learn how much weight the competitors have dropped, the show’s sophisticated equipment is all fictitious. The competitors had already been weighed and measured two days before the event. Furthermore, some have questioned the credentials of the show’s medical team! It is believed that they are not competent to provide medicines to the competitors. Furthermore, it is manipulated to make the competitors seem lazier than they are.

The Simple Life

Viewers couldn’t get enough of Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie performing odd jobs in tiny communities throughout the nation. We’ll be the first to admit that it was a funny show. However, Paris subsequently confessed that the producers wanted them to play the roles of a troublemaker and a ditzy blonde, which they are not. She also said how entertaining it was to play the airhead and employ a baby voice. She still tends to adopt this character! It makes sense given that the program has been on the air for five years.

House Hunters

This is one of the most popular HGTV programs. It’s terrible to learn that it’s simply another sham show. Even before they appear in front of the cameras, the contestants have decided on the home they will purchase! There are instances when they have already purchased the home. What makes matters worse is that the program sometimes casts young actors in the roles of homeowners.

What Not To Wear

We like the concept of this program, but it isn’t as entertaining as you would expect. The contestants on the program are given $5,000 to undergo a complete makeover and a new outfit. However, it turns out to have many disadvantages. The makers give their original garments to charity after throwing them away! Participants must also pay VAT on the goods they purchase. On top of that, the clothing is perfectly cut to suit them. They must, however, bear the expense of the change as well.

Pimp My Ride

You must have heard of this program if you were alive in the early 2000s! It was one of the greatest things in the world of reality television at the time. A rapper named Xzibit showed up at different people’s front doors and gave their cars a makeover. Since the makeover was entirely aesthetic, it seems that it is all for show. When the vehicle was returned to them, one of the show’s participants said that it could hardly run. There were also instances when it might take up to six months to have the vehicles serviced.

Cribs

Another successful MTV program! It featured celebrities showing viewers around their homes. The exquisite features of their houses astounded fans. It aired for 13 years and included several well-known personalities. However, the truth has now been revealed. A lady later sued MTV for portraying her rented home as Ja Rule’s crib. Oops.

90 Day Fiance

From the outset, there are many flaws in this program. It mostly abuses foreigners who marry Americans to get a K-1 visa. What makes it much more difficult is that the pair must marry within 90 days. If this does not occur, their tourist visa will expire. This means they must either return home or face deportation. It’s only natural for a program with this concept to be tense, but the producers prefer to throw gasoline to the fire to add more drama to the situation.

Divorce Court

Reality television needs drama to thrive. Nothing is more dramatic than marriage difficulties and divorces. This program is about the issues and drama that arise in marriage. It listens to both sides and tries to find an agreement between them. However, it has been discovered that everything is a hoax. According to a tip, their daughter and her boyfriend were persuaded to participate in the program although they were not married. On top of that, they were given a fabricated background.

The Osbournes

The Osbournes walked to allow the Kardashian-Jenners to run. Kelly, Jack, Sharon, and Ozzy appeared to go all out for the performance, which included a lot of cursing. Fans adored this odd but loving family. It also included a lot of pranks that made the audience chuckle. Unfortunately, since the program was largely staged, everything that occurred on it was a hoax. In every episode of the reality program, producers would instruct them what to do.

Teen Mom

To be honest, MTV does not have a reputation for producing genuine reality television programs. This show was similar to the ones we described before in the essay. It was released following the film 16 and Pregnant, which depicted what it was like for young mothers after giving birth. A lot of the arrests, breakups, and turmoil that occurred were true. Unfortunately, the producers loved to edit talks to make them seem more dramatic.

Beauty and the Geek

This reality TV program, as the name implies, paired up beautiful women with geeky gentlemen to compete in tasks. The nerds in the program were depicted as awkward guys who couldn’t maintain a conversation with ladies. This was not the case. One of them had a girlfriend at the time. Furthermore, the producers are said to have recruited actors to play many competitors on the program.

I Am Cait

Caitlyn Jenner’s gender change made headlines. This presentation explores what it was like for her to be true to herself in the face of adversity. Before we continue, we’d want to assure you that the first season was genuine. However, the same cannot be said about the one that followed following it. Because viewers had previously heard about the change, the creators devised fictitious situations for season two.

Total Bellas

Isn’t it general knowledge that WWE is staged? We’re not sure why anybody thinks a reality show starring Nikki and Brie Bella will be any different. Furthermore, they prefer to exaggerate the conflicts between Nikki and John Cena.

WAGS

When it first aired, the program was one of the most popular E! series. It followed the spouses of famous athletes. The program depended on contrived situations created by the producers among the ladies to keep things exciting for the viewers. Although the marital breakdowns were real, the competition and discussions among the women were not. Aside from that, the producers like bringing in ladies who were not dating sportsmen just to liven things up.
