When it first aired, the program was one of the most popular E! series. It followed the spouses of famous athletes. The program depended on contrived situations created by the producers among the ladies to keep things exciting for the viewers. Although the marital breakdowns were real, the competition and discussions among the women were not. Aside from that, the producers like bringing in ladies who were not dating sportsmen just to liven things up.
