Sheila was rescued with In-Sync just a few months before Kahn, a six-year-old lion. Sheila, a lion in the Texas film industry, looked a lot like Kahn. He, like Sheila, had been humiliated by his handlers, and when he arrived at the rescue facility, he was in horrible health. Because they had been in comparable situations, they were able to communicate quickly.

Kahn, like Sheila, was a showman’s animal. He used to enthrall the crowd at private parties by roaring or balancing on his two legs. His owners took him to a variety of local events, and he would often attend multiple events or festivals on the same day. He was forced to perform even though the entire journey and hard work had made him sick.
