The warden had bad blood with Walter since then and began “harassing” Walter. Walter argues that the warden would unreasonably write him up for violations. Due to this, the negative reports kept accumulating until he was one mark away from being sent “back up the hill,” he described. Walter explained that since he had no intentions to go back, the only way out was to escape.
