Angelina Jolie directed Unbroken, the story of Louis “Louie” Zamperini, the first Olympic track star and US prisoner of war survivor in World War II. After mechanical failure in a search and rescue mission, Louie crashed and survived for 47 days on a raft until he drifted to the Japanese occupied Marshall Islands and was subsequently captured. For a year, Louie was tortured until his eventual return home, where he received a hero’s welcome.
