Fighting The Stigma
Of course, the stigma surrounding breastfeeding is not new at all. This decades old debate brings up the issues of breastfeeding in public. Some mothers feel they are wrongly condemned for doing so or even for choosing not to breastfeed their child altogether. The whole debate leaves mothers conflicted and sometimes ashamed of their choices, and what’s best for their child.

Even though there is a widespread stigma around breastfeeding in public, it’s legal in 49 states in the United States. Only Idaho has a law against it. Anyway, even if it is legal, women nursing babies in public face ridicule and harassment from others who find it inappropriate. Due to Tori’s position in the public, she was able to speak out against this injustice on behalf of women without her platform.
