The Canadian-American actress Barbara Parkins decided to move to Los Angeles to make a name for herself when she was no more than 16 years old. The young woman began working as a backup dancer and singer to major stars in various nightclubs. In 1961, she got to make her debut in a low-budget crime flick called 20,000 Eyes. One of the bigger projects she took on had been the film adaptation of the hit novel, Valley of the Dolls. She later received a nomination for an Emmy Award as Best Actress in a Lead Role for her television work.
