The armed forces make up an important part of every country. Nowadays men and women serve alongside one-another in all different roles, and we’re glad that there’s that kind of equality in the military. If you don’t believe that there’s a place for women on the front line, perhaps these photos of female soldiers will give you something else to think about. I know that it did exactly that for me.
Many countries have allowed women the opportunity to take up different roles and positions in the military, and why not? They contribute so much to the way the army works. There is a handful of countries in the world that have an obligatory conscription for women in the army, and one of those countries is Israel. Their military demands that women serve two years of service and then they are free to rejoin civilian life, although many continue on for longer.
In some armies, not all positions are open to women. For example becoming a pilot, a tank driver, or a combat soldier might not be available for all women. However, for those women who have made it into these positions and units, have proven that will power and determination can get you a lot further than simply being a male or a female.
During the Second World War, many of the Allied armies didn’t allow women to do more than work safely on Allied land. Queen Elizabeth the Second of England, herself, worked as a driver and a mechanic. She was determined to help the war effort. The Queen took it upon herself to work on her shooting skills on the lawn of Buckingham Palace in the case of a Nazi invasion. But there were other women who took to the front, threw caution to the wind, and made a difference. One thing is for sure, these women make a difference.
