Back in July of 2016, she announced her separation from husband Jose Nunes, but then she announced a new relationship in September that same year. Gilbert was dating her best friend, Rayya Elias, a writer. The two had a commitment ceremony in June 2017, but sadly, Rayya died of cancer January 4, 2018.
