Jay Leno and Mavis Leno
Jay and Mavis Leno have been married for almost 40 years now, having tied the knot back in 1980. The two have no children – by choice. Mavis already knew she didn’t want any kids before she even met Jay, and when the two got together, Jay accepted her decision with no problem. In an interview, Mavis mentioned how she was initially against getting married, but when she met Jay, that changed. She said, “I was insanely in love with him, but I had had a long relationship before and never for one minute thought about marrying that guy,” she explained. “My belief was that I was a voyager, that I was just going to spend some time on this island and sail along and spend some time on that island. But with Jay, I realized all this time I’d been sailing, he was the destination.” When asked about the secret to a long marriage, Jay said, “You marry your conscience… You marry the person you wish you could be. That’s what I did.”
