Evelyn Wallace, a close family friend just happened to notice Karen out tanning in the garden. Something caught her eye, and she took a closer look at Karen’s disintegrating body. She recalls, “She loved to go lay out in the sunshine. I don’t know whether it was to get a tan or get away from her mother.
