Growing up, Jim Morrison and his brother Andy faced some pretty harsh punishment from their father. Their father believed in the military tradition of dressing down. Basically, as discipline he could yell and berate them until they finally declared all of their faults. Once Jim Morrison graduated from UCLA, he cut his ties with his family. By the time his band topped the charts, he was telling people his family was dead.
