Mike Wolfe has gone on the record to say the show is authentic and none of the rumors hold any weight. The only thing that can be seen as unauthentic is one minor detail. Apparently, once the two men actually have their producers call those property owners in advance. Yet, that’s the only thing Mike Wolfe claims could be seen as ‘fake.’ Everything else, like the negotiating and searching, are exactly as seen on the show.
