Many were waiting for former Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester to return to television. Unfortunately, Making History was not quite the hit as her old show. In fact, though they planned on 13 episodes for the first season, FOX cut it to 9 shortly after the first episode aired. The show just did not bring in the viewers the network had hoped for.

This bizarre comedy was based on Simon Rich’s short stories called “The Last Girlfriend on Earth.” Ratings stayed steady and stars like comedian Eric Andre brought in many fans. Probably what kept the show going for three seasons were the superb reviews from critics. Perhaps, this show will be revived on a streaming network and become a Freaks & Geeks of sorts where everyone catches on and is upset they ever cancelled the show.
