Michael didn’t have much on his academic record when he tried to enroll in Briarcrest. In the film, the football coach uses a religious appeal to convince school administrators to admit him. In real life, the coach did fight for Michael, but the principal forced him to do a home-school program for a few months to raise his grades before he was officially admitted.
